2 a) Explain the different types of primary schools.
•National school (sek Rendah kebangsaan )Malay school
•National type school( SJK (C) ) Chinese National-type schools & Tamil National-type schools ( SJK (T))
•Religion school

b) What is the medium of instruction in these schools?
1) National school-The medium that used is Malay language
2) National types schools:
•Chinese National-type schools: (medium of instruction is Chinese)
•Tamil National-type schools ( medium of instruction is Tamil)

c) What are the different examinations students have to sit for in the primary school and what is the reason for these exams?

The examinations students have to sit for in the primary school is UPSR (standard 6).
In primary school standard 6 students only take 5 subjects in UPSR examination. Students in National school, the subjects tested are Malay comprehension, written Malay, English, Science and Mathematics. .
The national type school such like Chinese National-type schools do exam in both English and Chinese language.
The Tamil National-type schools students take 7 subjects in UPSR examinations. The subjects tested are Tamil comprehension, written Tamil, Malay comprehension, written Malay, English, Science and Mathematics in English.

d) What happens when a student fails in Year 2 or in one of the national examinations in the primary school?

If year two students fail they can continue their students to standard three. The national examination in the primary school is UPSR examination. The Malay subject is the compulsory subject to pass to get certificate and help students to enter form 1 directly. If the students from national type school such like Tamil and Chinese school students fail in Malay subject, they need to enter transition class (kelas peralihan ). Then only they can enter form one classes . The national school is a special case because although , the student is fail in the Malay language they directly can enter form 1 classes.

e)If a year one student is a genius, will he be promoted to year 3 or 6?Yes/No. Give reasons. What would you do if your child is a genius?
No. If the student year one is genius, he suppose to be follow the procedure to enter standard two first. This is because the subject that teaches in year 1 is easier than year 3 or 6. It’s good to the child to continue his/her studies without jump two year.
In my opinion, if the child is genius I will make sure the child to enter year by year. Its help him to gain more knowledge and help his weak classmates.


f) What is the importance of getting at least 6 years of primary school education?
The importance of getting at least 6 years of primary school education is to become expect in 3R’s such like reading, writing and arithmetic. They know basic knowledge to continue their life journey like calculating when buy things, see time and so on. Its help they to recognize in what level there are in and try to improve their level. The students become good in communication skills. They know how to communicate with their friends and teachers.
