-It is my own group.
-I think that my group also done the good job.
-we all try to teach & make the lesson be fun.
-using pictures to attract students attention but not sure weather its success or not!
- give simple puzzles, crossword , Q & A sections after teaching to make sure students can understand the lesson.
Madam and friends I have a small thought..
During the school time, if there is a history subject some of students consider as “it is time to sleep”.
Students are less interested to attend the history classes.
The teacher will be reading from text book.
Its make the students become bored.
I have some suggestion from all friends’ presentation and philosophy class:
Why not the teacher use different teaching methods such like:
-using mind maps & power point slides
-ask the students to do research
-form a group and conduct discussions
-do forum, debate, quiz
-use video
-create blog and ask them to share their ideas, answer questions
-use suitable music (when the students are enjoy they will be learned without forcing
-go outing (like go to the historical place and learn from there)
-give puzzles, crossword (relax activity)
Dear friend, whatever comment just takes it as an encouragement. We all learn from our mistake. The presentation actually helps us to learn and identify the weakness point and good point. Thus, when we became an educator we know the creative and innovative way to teach to our students.

ReplyDeleteActually the creative and innovative methods attract students attention to focus their lesson. When there is something different and new , the students will be happy to try the new methods. The multi teaaching methods will be influenced the students to study.
For example, the presentation in class, we learn the English lesson via the Taylor's song. The students are enjoyed while learning.The teachers also can come with colourfull mind maps that avoid the boredom among students.
Excellent way to teach History,Vasagi!This is what I want you to realise.
ReplyDeleteIn the learner centred teaching philosophy,the focus is on learning and how the learner learns.For eg.if learners learn best through songs,give them songs and teach them grammar through the songs or even get students to write an essay based on the song!
Students love to act...teach History through drama...they'll never forget the different Sultans in the Malacca Sultanate!
Lool at how much you have learnt!The different teaching learning activities you have suggested helps realise the NEP/NEB in the classroom.
Remember,students and how they are the priority in the teaching learning process.

group 5,they try to teach history in english .It's really fantastic.They use different way to teach student (slide show).I like it.the final game really new .Congratulation.
group 6,this is my group presentation.We use video format,poison box and quiz for attract student.And one more group member will present following week.
group 7,this group presentation really different .They do forum presentation.End of forum they ask student about the policies .This way can improve student listening skill.
group 8,This group teach science .The way this group used to teach really interesting .The puzzles and crossword make student more understand this subject.

ReplyDeleteSome suggestions on how to make the lessons creative and innovative.
1.Mr Fraction Man and group..remember teachers must do less talking.Set tasks for students where groups/individuals cut fruits,cake,etc according to the questions given by the teacher.Avoid chorus answers.Why?You don't know who knows and who doesn't.Instead of manila cards/paper use laptops,click and drag pictures,etc.Remember,this is for Form 1 students and they've learnt fractions before,so have to make the lesson a little more difficult.Students can present their lesson using fractions to make up a picture,etc.
Group that taught animals,a lot of very colourful pictures,Very good!But don't you think the students could have researched for them?Again teacher is talking too much standing in front and students are giving chorus answers.They are Form 1 students and the level should be higher.To inculcate creativity and critical thinking skills students must do tasks set by the teacher.Students should be allowed to present information through forums,blog,drama,etc.
Group that did the Poison Box-very good idea to motivate students.But don't you think the activity went on for too long?What you could have done was start with the poison box,do research on the questions from the poison box,post and share the answers in the blog.Oral presentation could be through drama,forum,dialogue sessions,tv shows,etc.
The group that presented the forum-well done!They took the challenge.They were well prepared and looked very professional.very good video clips.Probably,if they had more time they could have interacted with the audience more...the Q and A session.Do you think students would enjoy planning a forum on current issues?This develops their critical and creative thinking skills as is required in the NPE/NEB and makes them more aware of what's happening around them.
The Group that presented the History lesson...yes,again lots of pictures..very good...but why not get students to do it?Again teacher was talking a lot and chorus answers.History can be presented through drama,forums,blogs,etc
Now,remember,all of you are learning how to translate the NEP/NEB in the context of the classroom.What I have suggested are tips on how to make your lessons more creative and innovative.Probably,after reading my comments you will have some creative ideas yourself which you can share here.
All of you worked very hard and have the potential to be creative and innovative educators that the country needs.Once again GOOD EFFORT and CONGRATULATIONS!!!
By the way,all of you looked every inch an educator...hmmm...image is also important...am proud of you!

They did well.. They explained all their points with doing poison box.. It’s enjoyable… but its much more better if they explain it and play the poison box because most of the students don’t the correct answers. Anyway u all did the best girls… congrats.
Group 5 (Kamala Thevi and company)
You’re great girls. U all did Malaca history in English.. it’s very interesting when there are so many pictures and the Malaca song. But only Kamala Thevi spoke loudly and others so soft.,.
Its more better if everyone speak loudly and cooperatively. May be u al should make a role play among the students.. ask the students to act as sultan, the deer and so on as in Malaca history. Because it will make the students fun when they study about history..
Group 6 (Kumaran and company)
Congrats.. u taught us fraction very well but didn’t give the cake to us lolx..
U all get tension a bit because of the slides problems.. but u all did well…
Its much more better when u all ask the students do the calculation of fraction with having some games such as divide 10 in a group and telling story and ask the students to act as in the story.. For example, there 10 ducks in cage and the farmer sold out 2 of them.. so what is the fraction there? There the students will act as ducks and its make them fun and easy to catch up what they had study.. it’s my idea.. u al did well friends.
Group 8 (Teo Wai Fong and company)
They did the best.. Good job friends.. We studied science with colourful pictures and crossword all. I think you all should make us to do experiment about it.. its much interesting right. For senses studies, may be u can ask us to bring some foods which contain sugar, sour and spicy to taste.. From there, we can learn about the tough sense.. its funny and tasty too..Anyway congrats … u all did well…

ReplyDeleteThank you, Shana, Actually we plan to do experiment but because of the lack of time we can't do it. Normally for science subject it’s important to ask the student learnt science via experiment. Its help those to learn from the experiment and from their own experience. We know that science is the search of knowledge about how things around us work. Science helps us find out about ourselves, plants and animals, our environment and things around us. My school teachers and my tuition teachers all only let us to answer the questions and do experiment but no one uses information technology with pictures, no puzzles, no crosswords. Their only aims are to complete the syllabus, not to check weather students able to understand or bored. So, my group said that why not we use crossword, puzzles and mind maps rather than the same experiment. We cannot deny that learning science is interesting but why not we as a future educator came out with something different to our students such like teaching science via farming, agriculture, planting, experiment go trip to zoo ( learn about the animal) , and go trip to Hospital to learn the part of body, disease and so on. Its help the students to understand better when they have oppurtunity to see the real thing.

TQ,Shana...the presentations on the last day were good.It showed that all of you are capable of coming out with creative ideas which provided opportunities for your classmates ahem...form1/2 students the opportunity to think creatively.
ReplyDeleteAs you go on in life as educators,I'm sure you will get better.What makes me happy is that all of you are able to evaluate a lesson that is creative and a lesson that is not so well planned.This is very important as this helps you evaluate yourself and become better.
Reflecting on the presentations on the last day really makes me laugh...can you imagine your students in the real classroom...how much fun they would have had learning!And the type of learning?Memorable and everlasting!Nothing boring and no memorization!
With regard to the forum by Anusha and friends,it was a good attempt.An idea you can use in class.Conducting a forum is not easy and it was a challenge to Anusha and friends.I'm sure the next time you do a forum,you will keep in mind all the suggestions made by your friends.Very good effort!

fantastic and i enjoy in class. The way they used to taught is good,and I can understood that subject.

ReplyDelete5)Kamathevi's Group->This group teach History in English.They translated the subject.Good job.The slide presentation was intersting and not bored.Really learned something about Malacca.I think they should control their time management cause they could not do their last activities.Besides that,I think they can do some acting about the subject.
6)Kumaran's Group->Their presentation was great.Although I dont like Maths but after their presentation I like a bit(hahaha).I like the video about the fraction.Never thought for Maths subjects also got such videos.I also like the claculating session where there were calculators provided.I wonder how easy life will be if in exams also they will provide us a calculator.For sure A...

ReplyDeleteit is my own group presentation.in this presentation we tought part of speech to the students.we held 3 activity:-
a)listen to the song and identifying the missing part of speech.we also sing the song together with the student.
b)we play tom & jerry cartoon and we ask the students to identify and list down the nouns and verbs from the cartoon.
c)we tought different signal for each part of speech and ask the students to do the correct signal when we say the words.
i think this activity was attract the students and also the student enjoyed our presentation.i think using this kind of method make the students fall in love in a particular subject and also help them to get high mark in the particular subject.
